The Bonita West Coast Division Corporate Headquarters
are located in Orange, CA. Vessels discharge on a weekly
basis at Port Hueneme, sixty miles north of central
Los Angeles. This state-of-the-art deep-water port gives
Bonita excellent transportation access, via truck
and rail, to principal markets as far north as Alaska
and Western Canada, Denver to the east, Hawaii and Guam
to the west, and Mexico and Arizona to the south and
south-west.
History
1985
Pacific Fruit, Inc. introduced the RICA
brand to the West Coast. It was the first successful totally
integrated pallet operation in North America. Distribution
from our port-of-entry in Long Beach, CA. ranged north
to Alaska and south to the Mexican border, east to Denver
and as far west as Guam
1986
Pacific Fruit, Inc., under the Rica label, began
its own Advertising and Point of Sale programs.
1992
Pacific
Fruit, Inc.
combines the two North American labels Bonita
(commercial label on the East Coast) & Rica,
uniting the company under one strong nationally recognized
Bonita
Label. By now Pacific Fruit Inc. was expanding into diversified
products. The West Coast operation developed a small,
but very profitable, Bonita
mango program from Ecuador. This is now a worldwide program,
with sourcing from Ecuador, Peru and Mexico.
1993
Pacific Fruit, Inc. introduces the 5lb. bag to
the North American market which has led to the development
of the industry accepted 3lb. and 4lb. bags. This innovative
product established the banana category for one of the
world's largest retailers; and, it also led to the successful
design and implementation of the industry's first-ever
consumer-friendly one-piece banana display box.
1994
Pacific Fruit, Inc. West Coast offers both container
and palletized below deck bulk fruit, in Controlled Atmosphere
(CA) to our customers.
1998
Pacific Fruit,
Inc. West Coast moves to its present location
at Port Hueneme ( Oxnard, CA ) for vessel discharge.
2005
Pacific Fruit,Inc. West Coast is the fourth largest
banana supplier to the West Coast and the largest distributor
of bag banana products, offering "Cluster, 3lb.,
4lb., & 5lb. bags" for sale to the market. We
also carry a full line of organic products and a very
large line of speciality items; ninos, reds, singles,
plantains, burros center cuts, and bananitos. Our diversified
product line consists of pineapples, mangoes, limes, and
melons. Other products such as apples, grapes and citrus
are in early development stages.
